There’s something really special about the calm before a baby arrives. That little window of time when everything’s about to change. Garen & Emmie invited us to capture a bit of that magic as they wait to meet their baby boy—and we couldn’t have asked for a better afternoon.
We met on Wilderness Beach on a cloudy day that surprised us with soft golden light peeking through now and then. The kind of light that wraps around you gently and makes everything feel extra warm and dreamy.
Emmie was glowing, Garen was calm and grounded beside her, and together they just radiated quiet joy. There was no rush, no fuss—just a peaceful walk on the beach, soaking up the moment.
Of course, we can’t forget the real MVPs of the shoot: Emmie’s two dogs. Her black sheepdog ran full speed through the sand, while the brown-and-white one (with only three legs but just as much energy) kept up without missing a beat. They brought so much fun and personality to the session—and honestly, a little bit of chaos in the best way.
As the light dipped lower and everything turned golden, we captured some of our favourite shots—soft, simple, and full of heart.
